It should be obvious to anyone that a law enforcement agency should not be allowed to break the law in order to obtain convictions. Nor cut corners, not frame suspects. But that is exactly what the FBI do or did in some cases. They became criminals themselves, to detect crime. In which case such evidence obtained illegally and crafting of evidence should not be allowed in any courtroom. Even a kangaroo courtroom.

It begs the question, who is public enemy number one. If civil rights are to be strictly observed, then the FBI is public enemy No 1. If protecting the public from drug importation, and making sure politicians are behaving themselves, then the FBI may be just what the doctor ordered. Except that the organization did not stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, and a near miss of Donald Trump, who was shot in the ear on July 14th 2024 at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Nor have they stopped the flow of narcotics into the USA, just as with bootlegged booze in the Prohibition years.

Some of the older bootleg operations were well and truly illegal. With the FBI and Sheriffs, actually giving protections to some bootleggers. All for a drop of moonshine. What then of the flow of cocaine and heroin from South America?

At an FBI field office, a senior-level FBI officer concurrently serves as the representative of the director of National Intelligence.

Despite its domestic focus, the FBI also maintains a significant international footprint, operating 60 Legal Attache (LEGAT) offices and 15 sub-offices in U.S. embassies and consulates across the globe. These foreign offices exist primarily for the purpose of coordination with foreign security services and do not usually conduct unilateral operations in the host countries. The FBI can and does at times carry out secret activities overseas, just as the CIA has a limited domestic function. These activities generally require coordination across government agencies.

The FBI was established in 1908 as the Bureau of Investigation, the BOI or BI for short. Its name was changed to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 1935. The FBI headquarters is the J. Edgar Hoover Building in Washington, D.C. The FBI has a List of the Top 10 criminals

Australian Prime Minister John Howard was incorrectly reported as being bundled into the PEOC but was actually in a bunker at the Australian Embassy.
