Commander John Storm just wants to be left alone to complete his DNA collection, and explore the uncharted regions on planet earth. But he always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

John Storm is a freelance ocean conservationist and near obsessive collector of DNA, in his quest to archive all life on planet earth. He has always led an active life, then became enhanced during one mission, when accidentally injected with a CRISPR virus, that changed his metabolism. Making him considerably stronger than ordinary humans. A virtual super-human, but with side effects, since the serum he was injected with was more generic than coded to his DNA.

Later in the series of adventures, Dan Hawk, refines the serum, coding it to John's DNA, and making other adjustments to the virus; as tweaks to eliminate the side effects. While also increasing his brain capacity to cope with the CyberCore Genetica super nano computer and BioCore implant. His skeleton was also improved, becoming much stronger and lighter. He is recognized by the scientific community as Homo Sapiens Superior, or Kanis Rex, making him a target for military agencies such as DARPA and DSTL, and of course Chinese and Russian equivalents. The US already having kidnapped the reincarnated Cleopatra, to steal her DNA, with Jack Mason, getting rapped on the knuckles for that little escapade. With US President Linc Truman promising John and his crew, that would never happen again, but only after Hal took control of missiles intended to sink the Elizabeth Swann, and redirected them to Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Then disabled NORAD.

John works with the US Navy, having trained as a SEAL, in a joint training exercise, between the UK (MI6) and USA. John is also a human rights advocate, hence a stabilizing force in part, against some of the more hothead military leaders and politicians.

Commander Storm's thinking is also turbo-charged with a super nano-computer called CyberCore Genetica™ linked to his brain via a BioCore™ implant on his cerebral cortex. This combination allows John to communicate telepathically with Hal, the AI computer onboard his trusty ship: Elizabeth Swann™. It also gives him instant access to information on the web. Making him the most informed person on the planet. Though, John would rather use his newfound intellect for peaceful research and conservation matters.

John's crewmate, Dan Hawk, is his technical support. Coming up with neat gadgets and a lightweight suit that is bullet proof.

John is great friends with his long term researcher, a former reporter: Charley Temple. Charley in turn feeds Jill Bird, a BBC anchor who keeps the duo up to date with world news as it breaks. There is thus an informal exclusive, enjoyed by Ms Bird. A mutually advantageous arrangement, the the BBC are loathe to disturb, or lose one of their best anchors.

In this original fictional spy thriller, John discovers a code laser etched onto a Byzantium stone tablet. When Hal deciphers the etching, it is revealed as a message in code relating to Red Dragon and Operation Grand Slam. This goes back to General Reza Shah, the mastermind of the plan to annihilate the world population, with only the triad cells surviving in specially built bunkers.

The United Nations and NATO allies agree Red Dragon's plan to be dangerously doable. Undermining the nuclear strategy of all the Eight sovereign states that have publicly announced successful detonation of nuclear weapons.

Five states are considered to be nuclear-weapon states (NWS) under the terms of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). In order of acquisition of nuclear weapons, these are the United States, Russia (the successor of the former Soviet Union), the United Kingdom, France, and China. Of these, the three NATO members, the United Kingdom, the United States, and France, are sometimes termed the P3.

Other states that possess nuclear weapons are India, Pakistan, and North Korea. Since the NPT entered into force in 1970, these three states were not parties to the Treaty and have conducted overt nuclear tests. North Korea had been a party to the NPT but withdrew in 2003.

Israel is also generally understood to have nuclear weapons, but does not acknowledge it, maintaining a policy of deliberate ambiguity. Israel is estimated to possess somewhere between 75 and 400 nuclear warheads. One possible motivation for nuclear ambiguity is deterrence with minimum political friction.

According to the Federation of American Scientists there are approximately 3,880 active nuclear warheads and 12,119 total nuclear warheads in the world as of 2024. The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) estimated in 2023 that the total number of nuclear warheads acquired by nuclear states reached 12,512. Approximately 9,576 are kept with military stockpiles. About 3,844 warheads are deployed with missiles. 2000 warheads, which are primarily from Russia and the United States, are maintained for high operational alerts.

It is a recipe for disaster. Which the Red Dragon Triad aims to take full advantage of.

[LEFT] NEW GLASSES - Special glasses are a practical idea for John Storm being easy to wear and remove, and subtle enough to not draw too much attention. Check out these high-tech, polarized aviator-style glasses that can subtly alter his facial features using small projections to mask his identity from observers and facial recognition software. These fit with his tech-savvy persona and adds a modern twist to the classic disguise trope. They also align with John's naval theme, being designed to withstand harsh marine environments. He's come a long way since the Kulo Luna adventure.

[RIGHT] NEW SUIT - Dan gets carried away and designs a suit for John partly inspired by some of his comic book heroes; only to be worn in exceptional battle situations. It is bullet proof and tazer resistant. With predator inspired optical (chameleon) and infra-red camouflage as a feature. John is impressed, but a bit embarrassed when wearing it for the first few times. He asks Dan to make a mask to hide his facial features. At which point Dan laughs, but then agrees a mask might be useful on certain missions. Should he go Batman or Captain America style, Dan cannot decide. Then there are Ant Man and Iron Man full face helmets. Or, is there something in between, less restrictive that still protects the identity of the wearer.
